Growing Up in Alpena, Michigan

"Well, when I was growing up in Alpena, I loved the lake. Well, actually I was a little afraid of the river--the bridge I was scared to death of because I always thought I was going to be in the middle of it, and it was going to come open. But, I loved living in a little town, and all of our relatives lived here, and we saw our family all the time.

My grandpa had a farm, and I loved going out there. Michigan is just a wonderful, beautiful place. I am now living in a very hot, hot place, and I don't want to leave, but we're leaving today, but oh, it was wonderful. A small town is the best place in the world to live, and Alpena was a great place. I left when I was 11 years old, and went out where it was hot. We enjoyed being here, and it's brought back so many memories, so I loved it, and I love Alpena, love Michigan actually, so . . . "
