"In Alpena, there are a lot of Polish people that moved here hundreds of years ago, and they had very distinct recipes, and a lot of them, well there's the famous pierogi, which is the dumpling of the Polish people filled with different fillings.

You have golabki, which is stuffed cabbage rolls, and all kinds of pastries. You even have duck blood soup and blood sausage, so it's all kind of interesting. But the techniques for making all these foods are quite distinct, so they have been passed from generations by word of mouth and showing the methods and carried on to this day."
