Returning to Cozad, Nebraska
Story Narrative:
Talk about a memory of living in a small town.
"When I was six, I was forced to move to Grand Island with my mom and her husband. They thought they would have better job opportunities and it would be a better life for me and my brothers, but when my mom's husband got sick and couldn't work anymore, we were two hours away from our all of our family with no money. My mom was struggling to make ends meet. She didn't know how to fix things. Maybe, we could move back to Cozad? No. That's not what her husband wanted so we stayed in Grand Island. This is when I decided to move back in with my dad in Cozad. I was much happier here. I was going to a smaller school where I knew everyone.
The plan was for me to go back to my mom's every other weekend and the summer. This worked for the first few years until I got into high school and started getting involved in all the different activities so I could go to college. Now that I only have two years of high school left, I've been going through all my options to where to go to college and where I could move after. I really want to go to UNL to move back to Cozad and work here. I've liked this town so much ever since I was little. Cozad is an amazing, supportive community that I want to continue to be a part of."
