From Russia to Michigan

How did you family come to live in your hometown?

Speaker 1: When you're in a small town you can learn more about the people and the village and its history.

Speaker 2: So, your grandfather came from ... moved to Michigan to a small town. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

Speaker 1: He came from Russia way back. I want to say the 19 ... Actually, it was 1898. After he ... Well, really back then he came cause they were all young and there was nine of them.

Speaker 2: Uh-huh.

Speaker 1: When they got older, they separated out. Some of them stayed in Canada. My grandpa ventured to Michigan. He stayed in Eagle, Michigan, where they live. So ...

Speaker 2: What did he do in Eagle, Michigan?

Speaker 1: He was a farmer. He worked on the land. It was really hard work. I got to see some of the barns and some of the old stuff. Gosh, it's a hundred years old. Just different stuff like that. Old equipment, horse stuff, buggies. Just things like that. [inaudible 00:00:00]
