Rattlesnakes and Night Crawlers, Tucson, Arizona

Tucson, Arizona

Story Narrative:

"When I was a small boy in Tucson, Arizona, the monsoons would come in the summer time and a lot of rain in the afternoons, then we would go out at night, there would be nightcrawlers all throughout the desert, and we'd catch them for fishing and so on, and my older brothers would drive down the old roads and look for rattlesnakes.

They would kill some of the rattlesnakes, and they'd tan the hides. Sometimes, we'd even fry up the rattlesnake and eat that. But that was many years ago, and Tucson has grown a lot since when I was a small boy, being born and raised in Tucson, you know, it was like 20,000 people when I was born here, and now, it's almost 1,000,000 people in the County of Pima, which Tucson resides in. It's grown a lot; a lot of different kinds of people have come, and I don't know if that's good or bad, but that's the way it is right now. "
