Mexico

Story Narrative:

A woman in a red sweater and denim skirt appears in a vintage photograph.

Students in Mexico created this story about a family member, Edith Zeron. The students show photos of her throughout her life as they tell her story.

Speaker 1 (00:01): Here's the story of a Edith Zeron, a hardworking housewife who once dreamed of being a choreographer, but the time didn't help her. What she didn't know was that she will become an example for all her sons and grandchildren. (singing)

Speaker 2 (00:33): She was born in a not-so-known town called Tolcayuca, the last of seven brothers.

Speaker 3 (00:52): Her father died at the age of forty seven years, so she really didn't have the opportunity to get to know him. But her mother, another exemplary woman who dedicate all her life to her children, trying to give everything she could, although they have all kinds of economical problems. Fortunately, the town was very little and all the families knew each other and tried to help. But like any other town, they have people with bad intentions.

Speaker 4 (01:36): At age of fifteen years, she moved to the [foreign language 00:01:39], where she began to study dance, and four years later, she met Francisco Caballe, the one she will marry. They had three children: Sylvia, Marco, and Francisco.

Speaker 4 (01:50): The reason that we decided she's an incredible person is because she's the kind of person that whenever you need something, anything, she's there for you unconditionally. Maybe she's not trying to accomplish global peace, but she's changing the world for the people around her.

Speaker 4 (02:08): Also, we can see in her the strength of a person that has overcome so many things in her life, and a [inaudible 0:00:02:18] that is characteristic that we should all have and cherish.
