Homesteading in Northeast Wyoming

Alpena, Michigan

Story Narrative:

"My favorite memory of growing up in a small town was the fact that my grandparents homesteaded near this small town. I grew up on the homestead for the first five years of my life, before we move closer to town, so my siblings and I could go to school.

We were the third generation of parents, grandparents that came from England, had settled in Illinois. My aunt and my father were born and raised in Illinois, and then my grandparents, both sides, homesteaded in the North Eastern part of Wyoming.

That's where we grew up for the first five years with very little convenience. But, I did enjoy learning how to be independent, and enjoying nature at all these times.

We are now back East, and I'm sure my father is rolling over in his grave for all the effort he made to get out West, and now we're back East."
