Good Friends in Small-Town Hansville, Washington

Hansville, Washington

Story Narrative:

"Hello. What I've learned from living in the small town of Hansville, Washington, is how great my little community is of neighbors and friends. I haven't had this many friends in my entire life, since I moved over there. Whether they have money or don't have money, they raise and give to the community over 100%. It's just amazing. It's the kind of community where people come and knock on your door and make sure that you're okay if they haven't seen you in a day or two, or they call and go 'do you want to go for a walk? or come over and have coffee'? It's just really neat."

Part of the "Stories from Main Street" project--an effort to collect stories about small-town life across the United States. The project was the brainchild of the Smithsonian's "Museum on Main Street" program, an initiative that brings traveling exhibitions about subjects of national importance to small towns across America.
