Fighting Boredom on the Farm, Nebraska

Cozad, Nebraska

Story Narrative:

Talk about a memory you have of living in a small town.

"As a child, I grew up in the country, just a few miles outside of Cozad, Nebraska. It was much different than the life I live now that I'm in town. While living in the country, I learned to stay close to family through thick and thin because it was just my uncle, father, and I. There were neighbors, but they lived nowhere near us. It always felt somewhat isolated and dull. Every day was a mission to find something to do before I went crazy. This is why I always had many animals. The most cats I had at one time was 20. I had three mother cats who would always take a liking to the stray male cats. Many of my cats had the same name since I would run out of ideas to call them. It was lonely, but I made it through. My fondest memories would be watching a movie with my cats or just staring at the fireplace. My father and I moved into another town with another family while my uncle moved to live alone. All the cats were sold. Neither of us are close anymore and nothing is the same. Often I find myself missing those days."
