Family within in a Few Blocks, Missouri

Excelsior Springs, Missouri

Story Narrative:

What's your favorite memory of living in a small town?

I grew up in a small town of about 700 people. I think one of my favorite memories is in the fact that my grandparents, my aunt, uncles, and cousins, all my brothers and sisters that were already married, along with my family all lived within just a few blocks of each other. The town that we lived in in Southwest Missouri was only about three streets by four streets long. The 700 people included the farming community that surrounded it as well. It didn't matter where you were, within a few minutes you could be at your grandparents' house or your aunt and uncle's house playing with your cousins, although it was a little bit harder to take time to do your grocery shopping. The nearest town to do that was about 18 to 20 miles away.
