"I think that living in a small town teaches you about camaraderie and really treating each other like you want to be treated, and it's all about being neighborly and friendly, and that's something that I really enjoy about living in a small town. Everywhere that I go there's a smiling face. There's a helping hand if you need help with something, and I think really teaches you about connecting with others and being there to be that helpful person, and always being willing to pitch in, work hard, and always have a smile on your face wherever you go."
Part of the "Stories from Main Street" project--an effort to collect stories about small-town life across the United States. The project was the brainchild of the Smithsonian's "Museum on Main Street" program, an initiative that brings traveling exhibitions about subjects of national importance to small towns across America.
