Story Narrative:

How do sports bring people together in your community?

Speaker 1: I played basketball at Elkton for Lady Elks for three years. My sixth, seventh, and eighth grade year. The gym was always full. They followed us to Minor Hill, Cornersville, and everywhere we went.

Speaker 2: Even during the bad seasons and the good seasons, winning or losing.

Speaker 3: Everybody liked basketball, didn't they?

Speaker 1: Yes.

Speaker 4: You can say your brother played in the Sweetheart Tournament and they won.

Speaker 1: ... played the Sweetheart Tournament. They won first place for the Elkton Elks.

Speaker 3: Now when was the Sweetheart Tournament?

Speaker 4: It was a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 3: The date?

Speaker 4: I don't know.

Speaker 3: About sometime in February 2012?

Speaker 4: Yeah February.

Speaker 1: I thought it was January?

Speaker 4: February.

Speaker 1: February.

Speaker 4: And then say he's in the sixth grade.

Speaker 1: And he's in the sixth grade and he played for Elkton with the football team, SGE, which consists of Elkton and Minor Hill. And they play different teams.

Speaker 3: And how big a school is Elkton?

Speaker 1: Right down there.

Speaker 3: About 500 students?

Speaker 1: 500 students, and it's growing.

Speaker 3: Did you enjoy going to school at Elkton?

Speaker 1: Yes, it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 3: Everybody loved Elkton, even I did 50 years ago."
