Catching the Caboose in Minnesota--Glen Nyenhuis

Glen Nyenhuis describes going hunting with his buddies and their unusual method of getting back to town.

"I'm Glen Nyenhuis, and I'll tell you one of our stories. Years ago, I came down for hunting and we would drop the shot guns and walk the railroad from Lanesboro out to the at the old barn, the three-story barn, the only one in the area. At that time, it was still being used as a barn for horses. We'd always shoot a number of pheasants, 2, 3, 4, and that was plenty. And, then we'd sit down and rest until the train came through on the siding going to Lanesboro and wait for the caboose to come through. And, we'd hop on the caboose and ride back to town. The conductor was always on the caboose, and he would chuckle and laugh and say 'Out hunting again?' We'd give him a bird and ride back to town and do whatever we wanted to."
