Black-eyed Peas and Cornbread, Jamestown, Tennessee

Jamestown, Tennessee

Story Narrative:

"What recipes are passed from generation to generation?

Well, most people around here, the more traditional people who have always lived here it's like black eyed peas and cornbread. That's always been passed on ever since they first started it. I know a lot of people who still eat it today. There's also roast beef kind of thing. A lot of people love their meat out here, so they usually go to certain places that still cook it like McCarter's Family restaurant. They still cook a lot of old time meals. What about your family?

My family's lived here for only 10 years now, but as long as I've been here. It's a very small town, and it's very nice because a lot of the recipes can bring people together in home cookouts, barbecues and all kinds of ways like that. My family's always tried to have as many of those as we can. What's your dad famous for? My dad's famous for his gravy in some parts of this town."
