Looking Out for Neighbors in Small-town Maine

Lewiston, Maine

Story Narrative:

What's your favorite memory of living in a small town.

"Okay. I think that my favorite memory of living in a small town is how all the neighbors knew each other. I'd walk home from school and people would be out on their porches and they'd say "Hi, how are you? How was school today?". It was like a little, community you could always see people outside working. They all knew you. When it was time to come in, when I was playing, when I was young, the streetlights went on, it was time to come in with my bike and if I wasn't in at that time there'd always be somebody saying, 'It's time to go in now!' because all the neighbors knew and looked out for each other. That's one thing that I specifically remember."
