Living in Small-Town Indiana Helps You Make Friends

Cumberland , Indiana

Story Narrative:

"Living in a small house or a town can actually helps you, with you getting to know better the people around you. It gets you to go out and play with each other, and you will make friends easier than a bigger neighborhood and a bigger population in your town because it would be probably be harder to find friends and cooperate with other kids. So, I think that if you're living in a small town that you should like know people even more, even better."

Part of the "Stories from Main Street" project--an effort to collect stories about small-town life across the United States. The project was the brainchild of the Smithsonian's "Museum on Main Street" program, an initiative that brings traveling exhibitions about subjects of national importance to small towns across America.
