Hay Days in Cozad, Nebraska

Cozad, Nebraska

Story Narrative:

What's your favorite memory of living in a small town?

"My favorite memory of living in the small town of Cozad, Nebraska is Hay Days. It is a time where the whole town of Cozad comes together and has a good time. Saturday morning is the parade, then everyone heads down for lunch for match at Chipper Hall. Throughout the day there are many things to do. Lastly, the carnival rides at night.

Saturday morning, everyone lines up on 8th Street in Cozad and waits for the floats to start coming down the street. Everyone has a candy bag or some sort of bag to pick up candy when the floats go through. The parade is usually pretty good and lasts for 45 minutes to an hour. After the parade, everyone comes down to Chipper Hall to eat and being a cheerleader, we have a booth set-up with walking tacos. They're always everyone's favorite. It is such a rush of people but it's always good to see everyone.

Throughout the day, they have pig wrestling contests and usually there's a Husker game, so everybody is watching that. As it starts to get dark, the rides start getting really busy and they are always fun to go on. My favorite rides would probably be the zipper and the octopus. Could you imagine, going around and around, getting dizzy and sick, it is the best feeling ever. It is always a good time and I'm pretty sure no one would disagree with me.

Hay Days is such a long weekend but it is such a blast being with friends, and going to the parade, and eating good food. Riding all the carnival rides and seeing how sick each one of you can get. Can it get any better than that? Cozad is the place to be."
