"My water story is about how I grew up in Maine, probably over the course of the 1990s. My parents are from Vassalboro, Maine which is sort of a central small town. My dad was a geologist for the state department. So growing up we did a lot of field trips with him all over the state and we did a lot of hydrology and geology with Maine lakes. So growing up we used to go swimming all the time and travel around and visit different lakes and the ocean in Maine which kind of got me into the environmental sciences field and my love of water. My parents are also very avid swimmers. They met at a college swim meet. I have a twin sister. (She) and I both grew up swimming competitively and then swam in college and I helped coach college swimming for a little bit. And so my whole life has revolved, in some capacity, around water whether it was sports or just recreational at home or traveling around with my dad, or now doing scientific research about marine science and water in the Gulf of Maine."
