Festivals and Fun in Weirton, West Virginia
Story Narrative:
"This is Pam Makricosta and I work at the Mary H. Weir Public Library. Where do people go to have fun in my community of Weirton, West Virginia? Well, the library here sponsors activities for people in our area, for people of all ages. We even have free movie nights with free popcorn and sodas once a month.
Museums of course play a very important part here. We have our Smithsonian Exhibit, but we also have the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center and they offer a variety of activities throughout the year. Two of the big ones would be the Festival of Nations, showcasing the over 50 different ethnic groups here, also the Robert Hayworth Art Exhibition. Now we have the snow village and the train exhibit that many people are attending.
Of course we have the sporting events and our community center and we have the Greek Festival, the Italian Festival, the Polish Festival, the Madonna Festival, and the North Weirton African-American Reunion every year. It's always fun to get together with family and friends reminiscing about the old times and making plans for the future.
Those are some of the things that we like to do here in Weirton, West Virginia."
