Catching Shrimp in Puerto Rico

Cowan, Tennessee

Story Narrative:

"One's in Puerto Rico. My family was in a place called Sabana Grande, and, well, this is actually my favorite story. We were going through a river, walking through the river, and, you know ... There was a, how do you say that, when the trees cover the sky, you know?"

"Oh, I can't remember."

Oh, okay. I thought there was a word for it.

"There is."

"But like, we were in the river, and it's really dark, and even though it's like noon or something. And we're just going through, and just catching shrimp. I never caught one, but my mother was very fast at catching it. And in the end, once we got to this one certain part where there was sunlight, there was a pot already set up with vegetables and stuff like that. And they got the shrimp, put it in the stew, and we ate there right there, next to the side of the river."
